Sea Shell Theme Wedding Cake

This cake is to die for! It is one of my most requested cakes that I have done many versions of. The sea shells are made out of white chocolate. Each is hand painted with an eatable paint. The shells are so detailed, people think they are real shells on the cake. I have to say the picture doesn't do them justice. They are amazing. I have made these shells for other brides and cake decorators across the USA. They are that amazing. The chocolate was also flavored butter rum. There are approximately 2 lbs of chocolate on this cake. This cake served approximately 70+ people.

As you can see Dana is extemely talented. She did my wedding cake as well. Mine was not the seashell type, but, it was absolutely beautiful. She listened to exactly what I wanted and exceeded my expectations. She is absolutely amazing. Thank you again Dana for my beautiful wedding cake.

Hello..Nice :) I´m also going to make a wedding cake this summer (for my brother) I wonder how you created those seashells... I´d like to do something similar.(sea theme cake!)
I live in Sweden so I cannot order chocolate sea shells or so..but if you have some advice for me, about how to create them, I would be happy to hear about it! :)
Thank you!

Hi Maria,

Thanks for the post. I made these myself using a food grade silicone. It can be purchased on line. VERY EXPENSIVE though! I spent hundreds making these different shells!

I used real sea shells and covered them with the silicone. When they are done, they are washed a few times, used a couple of times, to make sure they are good, and them put them to work.
